Want to Learn to Sail?

Norton’s Sailing School Will Teach You the Ropes.

We offer fully sanctioned ASA sailing classes to both beginners and advanced students. In fact, 40% of our students have no boating experience. The American Sailing Association (ASA) is the oldest, and in our opinion, the best sailing curriculum available. ASA credentials are recognized world wide and enable certified sailors to charter sailboats at Norton’s Sail Charters or with major charter companies elsewhere.

Norton teaches on late model Hunter sailboat with inboard power and wheel steering. The new (or nearly new) vessel is well equipped with CG requirements. Boat sizes range from 28 to 34 feet. Norton Sailing School will even teach students on their own boat if it is properly equipped. “Hands-on instruction” is paramount in Basic Sailing to Bareboat Cruising. We believe that students learn best when 90% of the instruction is on the water. Our instruction is comprehensive, yet relaxed! We want sailors to have fun while they are learning.

Intro to Sailing

Are you interested in learning how to sail?  Norton’s Sailing School “Intro to Sailing” is a hands-on, four hour experience.  The course is designed for people who want to see if they like sailing.

  • No prior knowledge of sailing is needed.
  • You’ll be exposed to different roles on the boat, including the helm (driver) position.
  • Each class is made up of only 4 students and a Captain certified in sailing instruction.
  • The keelboats are late model 30-36 feet in length with enclosed head, cabin, galley, and large cockpit.
  • This is a great way to feel what it’s like to be on a keelboat in a fun, calm environment with a good instructor.

Norton’s Sailing School invites you to discover the fun of sailing on the Chesapeake Bay.   What are you waiting for…..sign up today!
