Our sailing courses are certified by the American Sailing Association (ASA), the oldest and best sailing curriculum in the world. As an American Sailing Association (ASA) affiliated sailing school, Norton Yachts can grant you credentials that are recognized internationally, allowing you to have adventures on the Eastern shore and beyond.

Sailing Experience

At Norton, we believe students learn best when 90% of the instruction is on the water, which is why with our sailing courses, you’ll learn to sail on the water with an American Sailing Association-certified instructor in your very first course.

Norton Yachts Sailing School teaches on a late model Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349 sailboat so you’ll become familiar with modern boat systems. At our sailing school, our practice-based sailing courses will have you championing the inland waters or perhaps the Atlantic Ocean like an experienced sailor in no time. From weekend basic sailing lessons to weeklong advanced coastal cruising, sailing school at Norton Yachts will have you immersed in a fantastic experience.

Sailing Courses for Beginners and Experienced Sailors

If you’re just starting, Norton offers a handful of sailing courses perfect to get you started with the basics. Learn how to safely navigate a basic keelboat, navigational theory, marine systems, coastal navigation, sailing in different sea conditions, basic docking skills, and more. The completion of each course grants ASA certification, allowing you to charter a boat from anywhere in the world.

Norton also offers plenty of advanced sailing courses for experienced sailors who want to challenge themselves and strengthen their sailing abilities. With Norton, the possibilities for learning include sailing on a multi-day cruise with a certified instructor making our cruising courses a truly immersive experience. Bundle & Save

Bundle ASA Courses at Norton's and Save!

By purchasing ASA 101 and 103 at the same time, you save $140! Take advantage of getting certified in two areas in either consecutive days, weekends or any combination of classes. (ASA 101 is a prerequisite for ASA 103)

In addition, bundle ASA 101, 103, and 104 in our Basic to Barboat option. (B2B) This is a 6 day consecutive course in which you and one additional student are fully immersed aboard. You will live and learn on the boat with your instructor for the duration of the course. After 6 days, you will be fully certified to charter worldwide!

On-Boat Learning

Take ASA courses on your own boat

You may take any of our courses on your own personnel boat with one of our instructors. This is a great way to enhance your knowledge with one of our Certified ASA instructors where they teach on your boat.

NYSS offers Private Instruction

Norton Yachts Sailing School offers private lessons or private sails on our boat or yours. If you are looking for some additional instruction to hone your skills or want to get some feeling for the waters before taking an ASA course or you just want to go out for a good time, our instructors can make this happen for you! There is a 4 hour minimum and offered on our boat only when there are no bookings for class. Call NYSS for more information.
