NOW HIRING: MARINE MECHANICS

Norton Yachts is always on the hunt for qualified candidates to join our growing boatyard team.
Marine Mechanic: Our family-owned and operated marina, boatyard and boat dealership in Deltaville, VA is growing and is offering a career opportunity for the right candidate(s).

The ideal candidate will have a marine mechanic background. Experience with outboards, boat rigging, and electronics is a plus. ABYC certification preferred. Applicants will be primarily working on the following brands:

  • Jeanneau Sailboats
  • Jeanneau Powerboats
  • Starcraft Marine
  • Yamaha

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performing diagnostics and repairs of all types of marine engines and drives
  • Installing gauges and electronics, running wires and cables
  • Installing, repairing, troubleshooting and upgrading boat electrical systems
  • Maintaining generators and A/C
  • De-winterize and winterize boats
  • Ability to tow boats, launch and load boats
  • Clean boats after service
  • Safely operate company and customer vessels during diagnostic water testing operations

The right candidate:

Should have marine engine repair experience

  • Will have certifications, preferred but not required.
  • Will have the ability to meet deadlines and have good time management skills Personal tools are required, company has specialty tools and manufacturer specific tools
  • Must take pride in quality workmanship
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

NOW HIRING: FIBERGLASS AND PAINT TECH

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Surface preparation to include stripping, scuffing, sanding, masking and priming surfaces
  • Apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel or lacquer, as appropriate, to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and fixtures of boats
  • Utilize hand and power tools including but not limited to; scraper, wire brush, needle gun, grinder, pneumatic chipper, basic tools, sandpaper, etc.
  • Knowledge of the requirements for varnish prepping and sealing and the products utilized
  • Repair and fabricate composite parts
  • Ability to match and spray gel coat
  • Interact with customers and respond to customer questions as they relate to paint and varnish applications
  • Meet environmental requirements and best marina practices in acquisition, application, removal and disposal of paint, paint waste or residuals in accordance with OSHA requirements and federal and state laws
  • Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
  • Ad Hoc Marine Technician jobs as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Service Manager
